The movie company “Lionsgate” published recently that Cate Blanchett will be acting on the new movie, an adapted version of the game “Borderlands“.

On the movie from Eli Roth, she will play “Lilith“, a thief with extrordinary powers. This will be her second work with the director.

Stay tuned for more information.

Production has begun in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on Guillermo del Toro’s remake of Nightmare Alley and we have our first look from the movie.

TheDailyMail has posted the first stunning set photos showing-off lead actresses Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara in fantastic period costumes during a scene shot on Thursday, the pair previously starred together in the romantic drama Carol.

In NIGHTMARE ALLEY, an ambitious young carny (Bradley Cooper) with a talent for manipulating people with a few well-chosen words hooks up with a female psychiatrist (Cate Blanchett) who is even more dangerous than he is.

The rest of the stunning cast consists of Bradley Cooper, Toni Collette, Willem Dafoe, Ron Perlman, Holt McCallany, David Strathairn, and Richard Jenkins.

HN Entertainment first broke the news that filming would begin January 2020 in Toronto along with our reporting now confirmed that Nightmare Alley’s production team will include cinematographer Dan Lausten (The Shape of Water), production designer Tamarra Deverell, supervising art director Brandt Gordon, and costume designer Luis Sequeira.

Nightmare Alley is expected to wrap production on May 13th with a release date from Searchlight Pictures expected for fall/winter.

It’s possible that filming could move over to various other Canadian cities close by including Hamilton, Ontario, Canada which was used during the filming of The Shape of Water.

Back in December, it was reported that Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett was in talks with Marvel Studios to star in the upcoming action-fantasy movie “Thor: Ragnarok,” playing one of the lead female roles.

Now, director Taika Waititi has finally confirmed that Cate is indeed joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In a recent interview with Wired, Waititi has confirmed that Cate will star in the next Thor movie, although he did not discuss details about what role the actress will be playing.

“Yeah, the rumor … Here’s the thing. I can’t say anything. I’ve probably said way too much,” Waititi said about Cate playing villain Hela, reported Fashion N Style.

The director assured fans that whatever role Cate Blanchett will be playing in the movie “Thor: Ragnarok,” it’s surely going to be great.

“Yes. Look, it’s so early I’m not sure exactly what the extent of it is, but it’s looking good, which would make me very happy,” he said. “At the moment, everyone’s trying to figure it out, like ‘What’s he going to do?'” Waititi said, talking about the return of fan favorite character Loki in the film. “Everyone loves that character.”

Even Mark Ruffalo, who will play Hulk in the movie, had earlier hinted Cate Blanchett’s involvement in “Thor: Ragnarok.”

“I’m so thrilled,” Ruffalo told Entertainment Weekly after they asked about Blanchett’s involvement in the Thor movie. “I saw her at the Governors’ banquet here and heard that maybe she was circling, they were talking to her about the part, so I ran up to her and I was like, ‘Please, please, please make this work!’ She’s just one of the best, and to have her play a baddie is going to be really exciting.”

“Thor: Ragnarok” is scheduled to hit theaters on Nov. 3, 2017. [Source]

The Hamptons International Film Festival has tapped James Vanderbilt’s Truth as its opening night film.

The film, which stars Robert Redford, Cate Blanchett, Topher Grace and Elisabeth Moss, will screen Oct. 8 in East Hampton. Based on a true story, Truth centers on news anchor Dan Rather (Redford) during his final days at CBS News when he broadcast a report about how President George W. Bush relied on privilege and family connections to avoid fighting in the Vietnam War.

Sony Pictures Classics will release the film in theaters Oct. 16.

“We had the pleasure of having James Vanderbilt serve as a mentor in our Screenwriters Lab back in 2009, and we’re thrilled to have him back as the director of our Opening Night film,” HIFF artistic director David Nugent said. “He’s made a sharp and insightful film with wonderful performances that makes audiences consider the ever-changing relationship between journalism and politics in today’s media.”

This year’s Narrative Competition feature films include Matt Sobel’s Take Me to the River, Ciro Guerra’s Embrace of the Serpent, Avishai Sivan’s Tikkun, Grimur Hakonarson’s Rams and Diasteme’s French Blood. Keep reading »

Sony Pictures Classics just unveiled the very first image from James Vanderbilt’s directorial debut, Truth. The movie is based on Mary Mapes‘ book, Truth and Duty. Robert Redford plays Dan Rather, Cate Blanchett plays Mapes, his producer, and the film covers when they discovered that George W. Bush may have been AWOL from the United States National Guard during the Vietnam War and what happened to them when they ran the story on 60 Minutes II.

Sony Pictures Classics is giving an Oct. 16 awards-season release to the Cate Blanchett-Robert Redford drama “Truth,” centered on the Dan Rather scandal.

It will launch in New York and Los Angeles with a nationwide expansion to follow. James Vanderbilt’s directorial debut also stars Topher Grace, Elisabeth Moss and Dennis Quaid.

The film is based on the Mary Mapes book “Truth and Duty,” and Blanchett plays Mapes, a CBS News journalist and Rather’s producer.

“Truth” follows Mapes and Rather as they uncover allegations that George W. Bush may have been AWOL from the U.S. National Guard for over a year during the Vietnam War. Four documents were presented as authentic in a “60 Minutes” broadcast aired by CBS on Sept. 8, 2004, less than two months before the 2004 election, but it was later determined that CBS had failed to authenticate the documents.

The ensuing scandal ruined Rather’s career — he stepped down six months later — and caused profound changes at CBS News. The network fired Mapes, several senior news executives were asked to resign, and CBS apologized to viewers. [Source]

Broad Green Pictures has announced that Terrence Malick’s star-studded “Knight of Cups” will arrive in theaters on March 4, 2016.

“Knight of Cups” stars Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Natalie Portman, Frieda Pinto,  Imogen Poots, Wes Bentley, Isabel Lucas and Teresa Palmer. Nicolas Gonda, Sarah Green and Ken Kao produced the film.

Bale stars as Rick, an uninspired screenwriter living on the event horizon of all the vice, and some of the virtues, Los Angeles has to offer. He is a slave to the Hollywood system; addicted to success but simultaneously despairing at the emptiness of his life. With the death of his brother Billy hanging over him like a shadow and his surviving brother down on his luck, Rick seeks distraction in the company of women. Women seem to know him better than he know himself, bringing him closer to the heart of things, closer to understanding his place. And while the parties, the dalliances, and the career remain unfulfilling – each woman, each man he’s met through the course of his life has served him in some way as a guide, a messenger. This visceral journey through one man’s City of Angels has just begun.
